Behind the Idea: Ode to Simplicity

Life has an incredible balance!

When I graduated from the university, I found myself in MULTI-storey high plazas; I felt compelled to enter a tiring life that I had never encountered before, trying to have a COMPLEX network of relationships and always MORE. Just like a guest, I was a stranger to myself and too lacking in this place where I do not belong. Then something started to surface slowly.

While watching the crowd of the city in front of those false windows that did not open and listening to all the cries that I had not actually heard, I made a decision. I would listen more to myself, my feelings and instincts instead of them. With this decision, I realized that I need less to be FULL, everything that looks complicated has a SIMPLE way, and that a self-sufficient, SIMPLE life also satisfies me. The journey I started after this awakening brought me, after four years, to this collection I call “Ode to Simplicity”, where I am today. I realize that with the life I live, this collection is an ‘’Ode to simplicity’’

I gave up pushing and pulling life so it would not go anywhere, I am giving up. I take great pleasure in exploring its effortless flow. I work slowly and diligently for everything I dream of doing by feeling my fulfilment; I forgive myself for what I have failed. Finally, I understand that life means a bright sky, nourishing soil, a cascading river.

“Ode to Simplicity” takes its inspiration from the concept of ‘’voluntary simplicity’’. This concept argues that a self-sufficient, caring, compassionate life, by knowing and noticing, will create satisfaction beyond material wealth. Despite a set of values that assume simplicity is about poverty, monotony, or giving up the pleasures of the world, it emphasizes that the way to build a pleasant and satisfying life that imitates the balance, cycle, and order of the earth, which is home to us and other living things, is through the less, simple, plain but essential. Simple and effortless silhouettes of the collection that exist in balanced harmony with each other; meet with a festive colour palette that imitates nature. Eleven pieces in the collection celebrate every moment of life with the consistent, moderate and flexible relationship they establish with each other. Each one offers you a liberating simplicity.

“Ode to Simplicity” reminds us that plain, simple, and less is enough.
