Merve is a stylist who defines her style as eclectic, inspired by the energy of colors and experiences. We spent time with him in Istanbul, Fahriye Cafe. We asked a few questions to tell us about Merve and her colorful life during her busy days.

1. Can you tell us a little about Merve and your style philosophy as a stylist?

Merve: Always color, more color! My style doesn’t actually have math but, I can say that it’s an eclectic style. I love everything colored and patterned πŸ™‚ I have never had a rule like two different colors cannot be matched. You have to be a little brave. I love combining vintage pieces with new ones. That experience and imagining the story of the person who wore it before take me to other worlds.

2. Who or where do you draw inspiration in the styling process? How does this process go for you?

Merve: My job is to design a world based on the character. It’s not just about putting clothes together and combining them. Therefore, observation and analysis is the most important part of this process; Does this person comb his hair? Is there a wristwatch he never takes off?

Does he carry a backpack? Does colored nail polish last? I ask myself questions such as when creating the character’s world. At that time, anything could inspire me.

Maybe you will laugh, but the other day, while I was having breakfast by a lake, the colors of a duck and the combination of those colors impressed me so much that I made a combination with those colors for the character I am currently creating πŸ™‚ So inspiration can sometimes be a movie frame, sometimes a duck πŸ™‚

3. As Ren, SIGNATURES was a collection in which the models we produced before were improved, redesigned, and produced with the feedback given to us by the Ren community. Do you think sustainability or continuous innovation is important in fashion?

Merve: Consumption is an unbelievable madness. Fortunately, the trend towards the slow fashion movement has increased recently and this has brought sustainability. Thanks to brands like yours, people’s awareness began to increase. There is no need for constant innovation. By the way, fashion is constantly repeating itself. I love this situation. I think my trousers and jackets that I’ve been wearing for a decade will continue with me for another 15 years πŸ™‚ I think it’s great to renew and transform them with different styles. We must learn to shop smart now. It is necessary to get rid of the take-off cycle.

4. Can you tell us how you felt when Louise wore the jacket and Octavia pant in three words?

Merve: Three words? πŸ™‚ Well, briefly, I can say comfortable, happy, and strong.
